Thanet Community Safety Partnership

Thanet Community Safety Partnership logo, 2021

In 1998 it was identified by the then government that in order to effectively tackle crime and disorder agencies needed to work together to tackle identified issues collectively. Community Safety Partnership’s (CSP’s) formerly Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP’s) were set up to be the conduit between different agencies and organisations both statutory and voluntary.

We produce a Community Safety Plan which sets out the themes for the partnership.

For Thanet Community Safety Partnership is proposing to centre our work around the following three themes:

  • People
  • Place
  • Reducing Serious Violence

The themes will have particular areas of focus such as domestic abuse, anti-social behaviour, gangs & exploitation, violent crime, organised crime & counter terrorism which all cut across the themes. The partnership plan aims to be more flexible and responsive to emerging issues using a range of methods to analyse statistics, pick up on real time information and take feedback from residents.

Please browse the information below to find out about the work we do and how you can get involved and have your say in helping to make your community a safer place to live and work.

The Thanet Games will be a week-long celebration of family fun days, full of sporty taster sessions, fun activities and much more!

The sessions will run from 4pm until 8pm at:
Monday 19 August – Newington Park, Ramsgate
Tuesday 20 August – St Peters Recreation Ground, Broadstairs
Wednesday 21 August – Dane Park, Margate
Thursday 22 August – Westgate Recreation Ground, Westgate-on-Sea
Friday 23 August – Royal Harbour Academy, Ramsgate

The Knowledge is Power: once is all it takes family event is taking place at Ramsgate Football Club on Friday 30 August 2024, between 10am and 3pm.

Partners including Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution will promote the safety message that ‘Knowledge is Power: Once is all it takes’.

The aim of the day is to raise awareness of serious issues including tombstoning, driving while under the influence of drink or drugs, knife crime, staying safe around rail tracks, and promoting healthy relationships. Taking part in dangerous activities like these, even once, can result in serious harm or death.

There will be a range of free activities for people of all ages and workshops on specific safety issues will run throughout the day.  Places on the workshops are limited, so early booking is advised.

Bookable workshops:

  • Knife Crime Awareness family workshop – delivered by the Ben Kinsella Trust. Open to everyone over the age of 13. Young people between the ages of 13 and 18 must be accompanied by a parent, carer or responsible adult.
  • Online Risk of Radicalisation – delivered by Kent County Council’s PREVENT Team

The workshops can be booked by completing a short online form

As the event is taking place in the Ramsgate Football Club grounds, on-site parking will not be available. The venue is easily accessible by public transport and parking will be available in nearby roads. Refreshments will be available to purchase at Ramsgate Football club.

The partnership delivers Neighbourhood Engagement Meetings (NEM) to identify the issues around crime and anti-social behaviour that matter most to residents in our local communities.

The NEM meeting is attended by police sergeants and PCSOs for that area and district council representatives. Members of the community are free to pose questions or make observations about their area, even down to street level.

The district is divided into North, East, South and West geographical areas – with those living in more rural areas attending whichever location is closest and most relevant to them.

Future NEMs will be scheduled as follows:

The below engagements are being held during existing community events to try and meet as many people as possible and share the good work that the Community Team are doing. Autumn dates will be released after the general election.

We are always interested in speaking to community groups delivering projects relevant to community safety and can potentially assist in financially contributing.

We also work with a large number of public and private sector partners as well as voluntary and community groups to collectively implement and deliver initiatives that will help all areas of Thanet become a safe place to live, work and visit.

If you are part of a community organisation and are interested in discussing how we can potentially support your project:
