Thanet District Council provides public toilets for the benefit of residents and visitors, at key locations across the district.
Some sites in towns and at main bays on the coastline are open all year around, while other seasonal toilets are open during the spring and summer months.
From Friday 4 April 2025, all of the following public toilets are open daily until the end of September 2025.
- Minnis Bay
- West Bay
- St Mildred’s Bay
- Buenos Aires (Eliot shelter)
- Clocktower, Margate (portaloos)
- Margate Harbour Arm
- Walpole Bay (portaloos)
- Botany Bay (main block and portaloos)
- Joss Bay
- Stone Bay
- Viking Bay (Broadstairs Harbour)
- Viking Bay Chalet
- Bandstand & Clocktower, Broadstairs (portaloos while works being carried out)
- Dumpton Gap
- Ramsgate Bathing Station
- Pier Yard, Ramsgate
Temporary toilets will be installed at Western Undercliff in Ramsgate ahead of the summer season.
The public toilets at Victoria Gardens in Broadstairs will be closed intermittently from Wednesday 9 April. This is so that repairs can be carried out. This affects the male, female and accessible toilets. Portaloos will be in place for the duration of the work.
During the closure, electrical work will be carried out. The ventilation system and plumbing will be replaced, and the buildings will be decorated. It is anticipated that the work will take three weeks. The toilets will reopen as soon as the works are finished.
A full list of all the council’s public toilets and their opening hours can be found on the website.
