The General Election took place on Thursday 4 July with the count taking place overnight. The results follow:
East Thanet
The General Election results for East Thanet are in. At 3.35am, Labour candidate, Polly Billington was declared as the elected MP with 17,054 votes.
The full results for East Thanet were as follows:
- Polly Billington (Labour Party) – 17,054 ELECTED
- Grahame Birchall (Independent) – 563
- Helen Harrison (The Conservative Party) – 10,083
- Paul Holton (Independent) – 369
- Steve Roberts (The Green Party) – 4,590
- Mo Shafaei (Independent) – 98
- Jai Singh (Liberal Democrat) – 1,365
- Paul Webb (Reform UK) – 8,591
There were 167 spoiled ballots.
Voter turnout was 57%.
The votes for the new constituency area of East Thanet, which comprises Ramsgate, Broadstairs and most of Margate were counted by Thanet District Council at St George’s School in Broadstairs.
Herne Bay and Sandwich
Following the boundary changes, other parts of the Thanet district which includes Westbrook, Birchington, Garlinge, Thanet villages and Westgate (formerly part of North Thanet), are now included in the new Herne Bay and Sandwich constituency.
The election count for Herne Bay and Sandwich was led by Canterbury City Council and took place in Westgate Hall. Conservative candidate, Sir Roger Gale was re-elected as MP with 17,243 votes.

- Thea Barrett (Green Party) – 3,529
- Angie Curwen (Liberal Democrats) – 2,709
- Roger Gale (The Conservative Party) – 17,243 ELECTED
- Amelia Randall (Reform UK) – 10,602
- Helen Elizabeth Whitehead (Labour Party) – 14,744
Voter turnout was 63%
